New Release from The Silence Noise – To Fill The Holes

To Fill The Holes is inspired by the /r/songaweek theme of “Major.”

Lyrics:

Wander through the wasteland of my memory
The holes inside my past phase into reality
The home we knew is just an empty space in the ground
Now it’s left to me to fill the hole

Now it’s left to me to fill the hole

Withered tree we climbed still standing strong
Echoing the verses to our favorite songs
Living in the fear that something or someone’s lost
Now the present brings the past across our atmosphere

Now it’s left to me to fill the hole

I don’t even know why I still feel this
Don’t even know why I still see this
Don’t even know why I still want this
Don’t even know why I pretend…

Now it’s left to me to fill the holes

New Release from The Silence Noise – Let’s Go To War

Let’s Go To War is inspired by the /r/songaweek theme of “Minor.”

Lyrics:

Let’s go to war
I think you’d like it
It’s just the perfect thing
To feed your insanity

Lets go to war
I think you want it
Just by listening to
The way you talk to me

Heaven forbid I’m the one who wanted to love you
To actually forget the things that you did to shame you
Thankfully words aren’t bullets or I’d be dead
But years full of memories are something I won’t forget

Lets go to war
Lets tear each other apart
Lets go to hell
Lets give into the madness
Lets live in fear
With the corpse of that which we call love
Lets stay right here
Since the future requires us to grow

What’s this fight really all about?
Whats the pain that led to all your doubt?
Why do you try and fight me
When all I want is to give you peace?

What the hell is wrong with me?

New Release from The Silence Noise – Factory of Hope

Factory of Hope is inspired by the /r/songaweek theme of “Digital.”

Lyrics:

My dreams are in a machine
Downloading hope to a factory
Assemble my life from a template
Of a man to whom I don’t relate

Lost in the wave of technology
Dead to the world outside of me
Living in a cold blue gloom
I yearn for a future outside this room

I can’t breathe
I need air
I can’t see
My eyes are so tired

I can’t believe
With all this information
That I still don’t know how to live

I know so much but care so little
Always searching for the newest arrival
Mind is full of clicks and buzzes
Wishing I could ever fall asleep again
The day I waited for so long
Seems like it has come and gone
The day I waited for so long
Now what’s left to do but remember the pain?

I’ve waited for so long
I’ve waited for so long
I’ve waited for so long

Now I want to give up on this dream
Now I’m fully part of the machine

Remastered from The Silence Noise – My Feet in the Mud

A brand new remaster of My Feet in the Mud.

Why did I do this?

There was recently a deal on Izotope Ozone Elements which led me to revisit some of my previous mixes and creations throughout the Song a Week process.

Ozone Elements features a mastering assistant with an EQ, imager, and maximizer that can help add some depth to the track.

Since this track was developed earlier in my songwriting process there were many issues with the mixing and editing choices – particularly with the guitar, vocals, and drums.

Instead of just cramming it all through the mastering process, I went back through and cleaned up and distinguished many of these elements with the new skills I’ve developed over time.

Lyrics:

Have you seen the man who’s lost his dreams?
Have you found the boy who holds his wonder?
If your once upon a time seems ever further
If its twice as far as you would ever wander

So much for the man who sells his dreams…
Good luck to the man who sells his dreams…
The profit was never worth it…
But I bet you’ve made a fortune

Hey there, you there
What’d you do with the buck you made?

Blank stares, lost cares
What’d you do with the heart you drained?

Rain, rain
It’s raining thoughts
Don’t mind the fog… You’ll find your way

Rain, rain
Your search for God
Was not in vain… You’re on the way…

I gave you a gift from the bottom of my pocket
Did you see the effort it takes me to find it?
The lazier, the holier, the crop corrupts the cream
Your dark dream now I own it all it seems!

I’m taking up a residence in most expensive places
I’m planning on all the luxuries, amenities, and favors
You’ll give to me all of your energy
I’m taking up a residence in a neighborhood that I will call your soul

My heart is too afraid to show itself today
My heart is too afraid to let you see me
Trickling down, I hear the vultures
They’re coming to pick the corpse clean

Rain, rain
My feet in the mud
My God, my God… We are lost

New Release from The Silence Noise – Mechanism (Instrumental)

New Release – Mechanism for song a week theme, “Analogue.”

This is a bit different from the normal since I’ve been sick the last two weeks with bronchitis and unable to sing.

The track features all analogue instruments created in Komplete’s Retro Machines package tweaked to my liking.

The composition was primarily on my phone and through humming.

The vocal sample is from the assistant of Alexander Graham Bell as he discussed the invention of the telephone.

New Release from The Silence Noise – Did You Sleep

New Release from The Silence Noise – Did You Sleep?  Inspired by the /r/songaweek theme of “Household Instruments.”

More than half the instruments used in this song are samples captured from around my house in the morning including the toaster, refrigerator, sink, microwave, opening/closing curtains, air conditioner, and coffee machine.

Lyrics:

Can you sleep?
Did you sleep?
Is the sunlight through the window in your eyes?

Awake
Awake
Awake
Awake

Mornings come
But my nights not done
It’s not over when my head hits the pillow

Awake
Awake
Awake
Awake

I’m still awake from the sound of dreams
I’m still awake from my thoughts and fears
I’m still awake until the dark has come and gone
I’m still awake until my time’s run out

Awake
Awake
Awake
Awake

Are you here?
No you’re not here?
The light of day it takes you away to the real world

Mornings come
But my nights not done
I cannot raise my head from the pillow where you rest

I’m still awake from the sound of dreams
I’m still awake from my thoughts and fears
I’m still awake until the dark has come and gone
I’m still awake until my time’s run out

New Release from The Silence Noise – Washed Up

New Release from The Silence Noise – Washed Up inspired by the /r/songaweek theme of “Distortion.”

Lyrics:

Are you too washed up?
Have you wondered where time escaped?
Are you too held up?
Do you wish you had something more to love?

Where did the dreams go?
When you’re left with no one left to hold
Are you too dried up?
If you’re picking at the hole left in your soul

The future is obscured by today
The future is just in front of your feet
The future is a ticking clock away
The future is just beyond your doubt

Are you too messed up?
Have you witnessed how everything collapsed?
Are you too bruised up?
Do you wish you had something more to hate?

Where did your mind go?
It wandered off into the past
What did your eyes see?
They took it all in…took it all in…

It lingers on and on and on…

The future is obscured by today
The future is just in front of your feet
The future is a ticking clock away
The future is just beyond your doubt

It lingers on and on and on…

New Release from The Silence Noise – You Saw His Face

New Release from The Silence Noise – You Saw His Face

My first “Song a Week” Submission – unthemed but submitted in “Week 29 – Mountain Top.”

Lyrics:

I saw him looking in – I saw his face
Pressed against the window
Little beady eyes were shining through
Reflecting streetlights and the pavement
I never thought to ask his name
Or figure out how he had come here
I never thought I’d play this game
Or figure out what he had done here
I thought that you could see him there
The answer to our prayers
But deep beneath the surface now
I see that you are scared
And when the shots came blazing through
You never thought to run
And you saw his face
You saw his face
